Sensory needs

Every child experiences the world through their senses. Some children seek out sensory experiences, while others become overwhelmed by certain sounds, textures, movements, or environments. These resources help families better understand sensory processing and support their child's participation in everyday activities.

Everyday sensory support

  • Keep daily routines as predictable as possible.
  • Prepare your child for changes with simple explanations.
  • Offer opportunities for active play every day.
  • Create a quiet, calming space when your child feels overwhelmed.
  • Follow your child's lead during play and exploration.
